
What is IZUMO
IZUMO is a region in the rural area along the coast of Sea of Japan. Izumo is known as an important ancient Japanese historical and cultural site. Many Japanese mythological legends have evolved here. In kanji, Izumo means “appearing clouds”.

What is Calligraphy Art
Japanese calligraphy, also called sho, is a form of artistic writing of the Japanese charactors such as kanji, hiragana, katakana and alphabet. The four most basic and unique tools are brush, inkstick, mulberry paper and inkstone, which are used to create a work of modern calligraphy.

HIRO

HIRO studied calligraphy at a Japanese university and graduated special course of calligraphy in 1983. After that, she has been working and creating calligraphy art work independently over 30 years in Izumo region. Her style of calligraphy is rooted in depicting Japanese life.
